How Lumicalcium Tablet works

Calcium provides an essential mineral for bone and teeth mineralization and normal neuromuscular function. If vitamin D is present, it increases intestinal absorption of calcium and phosphate and helps maintain adequate serum calcium for bone formation.

How to take Lumicalcium Tablet

Tablets are usually taken by mouth with food to reduce stomach upset; swallow with water. Follow the dosage as advised by a doctor/pharmacist; avoid taking at the same time as iron, thyroid medicines or certain antibiotics—keep a 2–4 hour gap.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Lumicalcium as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Lumicalcium than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Lumicalcium Tablet

Most side effects of Lumicalcium are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• Constipation
• bloating
• stomach upset
• nausea
• belching
• flatulence

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Safety advice for Lumicalcium Tablet

Warnings and precautions

Do not use without medical advice in hypercalcaemia, hyperparathyroidism, kidney stones, severe kidney disease, sarcoidosis or vitamin D toxicity. Excess intake can cause high calcium levels—seek care if you develop severe nausea/vomiting, confusion, excessive thirst/urination. Use caution in renal impairment; may need monitoring of calcium and kidney function.

Interactions with other medicines

Levothyroxine (reduced absorption), tetracyclines and fluoroquinolones (reduced antibiotic absorption), bisphosphonates (reduced absorption), iron and zinc supplements (reduced absorption), thiazide diuretics (increased risk of hypercalcaemia), digoxin (arrhythmia risk with high calcium)

How to store Lumicalcium Tablet

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
