Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II action, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart.
Take by mouth as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow tablet whole with water; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
Common side effects of NEWTEL 40 may include:
Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 2nd/3rd trimester); use with caution in breastfeeding. Caution in kidney impairment, renal artery stenosis, dehydration/low salt, severe liver impairment, and in patients with high potassium. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium; risk of hyperkalaemia and hypotension. Seek help for severe dizziness, fainting, swelling of face/lips, or reduced urination.
