Susten SR 300 Tablet contains Progesterone (Natural Micronized) (300mg). It belongs to the Progestogen (natural progesterone) class of medicines.

How Susten SR 300 Tablet works

Progesterone is a natural female hormone that prepares and maintains the uterine lining (endometrium) for implantation and pregnancy. It stabilizes the endometrium, reduces uterine contractions, and supports the luteal phase when endogenous progesterone is inadequate.

How to take Susten SR 300 Tablet

Oral sustained-release tablet; take exactly as prescribed, preferably at the same time each day. Usually taken after food and often at bedtime (may cause drowsiness/dizziness). Swallow whole; do not crush or chew. Duration and dose depend on indication (luteal support/pregnancy support/amenorrhea).

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of SustEN SR 300 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine may cause nausea, vomiting and withdrawal bleeding. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Seek urgent care for signs of blood clot (leg pain/swelling, chest pain, breathlessness), severe headache/vision changes, jaundice, or heavy vaginal bleeding. Not for use in known/suspected breast or genital cancers, unexplained vaginal bleeding, active thromboembolic disorders, or severe liver disease unless specialist directs.

Do not take Susten SR if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a history of blood clots, certain hormone-sensitive cancers, or active liver disease. Several are contraindicated in pregnancy.

Interactions with other medicines

CYP3A4 inducers may reduce effect (rifampicin, rifabutin, carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, primidone, St John’s wort); CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase levels (ketoconazole/itraconazole, clarithromycin/erythromycin, ritonavir); additive sedation with alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, antihistamines; may affect glycemic control in diabetics (monitor).
