Telo 40 mg Tablet contains Telmisartan 40 mg tablet. It belongs to the Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) class of medicines.

How Telo 40 mg Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It blocks AT1 receptors, preventing angiotensin II–mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone release, thereby lowering blood pressure and reducing strain on the heart and blood vessels.

How to take Telo 40 mg Tablet

Oral tablet. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Telo 40 mg Tablet

Most side effects of Telo are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• back pain
• diarrhea
• raised potassium (hyperkalemia)
• increased creatinine

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not recommended in pregnancy (can harm the unborn baby); avoid breastfeeding unless advised. Caution in kidney disease, liver impairment, dehydration/low salt, and in patients with low blood pressure. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium, especially after starting or dose changes. Risk of hyperkalemia—avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless prescribed. Seek urgent help for facial/lip swelling or breathing difficulty (angioedema).

Do not take Telo if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes, potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone/eplerenone/amiloride), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (higher risk of kidney impairment/hyperkalemia; avoid in diabetes with aliskiren), NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen/diclofenac—may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (increased lithium levels/toxicity), other antihypertensives/diuretics (additive hypotension)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep in original strip and out of reach of children.

Blood pressure medicines work only while you take them — do not stop because you feel well. Tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy. Keep a home blood-pressure record if your doctor has asked for one.
