Telmisartan 40 mg (as telmisartan) tablet
Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure); reduction of cardiovascular risk (heart attack/stroke) in high-risk patients when appropriate.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that selectively blocks AT1 receptors. This relaxes blood vessels, lowers aldosterone effects, and reduces blood pressure, thereby decreasing strain on the heart and risk of cardiovascular events.
Tablet for oral use. Take as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow with water; continue regularly even if you feel well.
Common side effects of TELSAR 40MG may include:
Avoid use in pregnancy (can cause fetal harm); use caution in breastfeeding. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function and serum potassium, especially in elderly, dehydrated patients, heart failure, renal impairment, or those on diuretics. Risk of hyperkalaemia—avoid potassium supplements/salt substitutes unless advised. Caution in severe liver impairment or biliary obstruction. If severe dizziness/fainting occurs, seek medical help.
