Tioform Inhaler contains Tiotropium (9mcg) + Formoterol Fumarate (6mcg). It belongs to the Long-acting bronchodilator inhaler (exact class depends on formulation) class of medicines.

How Tioform Inhaler works

How to take Tioform Inhaler

Use by inhalation only as prescribed. Prime the inhaler if new or not used for several days (as per pack insert). Exhale fully, seal lips around mouthpiece, inhale slowly and deeply while actuating, hold breath for ~10 seconds, then exhale; rinse mouth if advised. Do not exceed the recommended number of puffs; carry a rescue inhaler for acute symptoms if prescribed.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take the missed dose of Tioform as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Tioform than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Side effects of Tioform Inhaler

Most side effects of Tioform are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

• urinary retention
• blurred vision

Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Not for acute bronchospasm/sudden attacks. Use with caution in narrow-angle glaucoma, urinary retention/prostatic hyperplasia, heart rhythm disorders, uncontrolled hypertension, hyperthyroidism and seizure disorders. Seek urgent care if breathing worsens after use (paradoxical bronchospasm), chest pain, severe palpitations, eye pain/vision changes, or allergic reactions occur. Keep device away from eyes; ensure correct inhaler technique.

Interactions with other medicines

Other anticholinergics (e.g., ipratropium), beta-agonists (e.g., salbutamol/formoterol) additive effects, beta-blockers may reduce bronchodilation, diuretics/corticosteroids may increase risk of low potassium if combined with beta-agonists, CYP inhibitors/inducers may affect some LABAs (formulation dependent).

How to store Tioform Inhaler

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from direct heat/sunlight. Do not freeze. Pressurised inhaler: keep away from flames/heat sources; do not puncture or burn even when empty.
