Torvason 40 Tablet contains Atorvastatin (40mg).
Torvason 40 Tablet is used in the treatment of high cholesterol.
Torvason 40 Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides and raises "good" cholesterol (HDL).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Torvason 40 Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take the missed dose of Torvason as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed one and carry on with the usual schedule. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed dose.
Taking more Torvason than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Torvason are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.
| Pregnancy | Torvason 40 Tablet is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Human and animal studies have shown significant adverse effects on the foetus. Please consult your doctor. |
|---|---|
| Breastfeeding | Torvason 40 Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby. |
| Alcohol | Taking Atorvastatin with alcohol may increase the risk of liver damage. |
| Kidney | Torvason 40 Tablet is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Torvason 40 Tablet is recommended.
However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease. |
| Liver | Torvason 40 Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Torvason 40 Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Torvason 40 Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease. |
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Torvason. Some combinations can change how Torvason works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Torvason below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
