Use with caution in patients with intestinal disorders (e.g., inflammatory bowel disease, colonic ulceration, partial intestinal obstruction), severe liver disease, or renal impairment. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas—treat low sugar with glucose (dextrose), not sucrose, as carbohydrate absorption is delayed. Not for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c regularly.
Do not take Voglixta if
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for type 1 diabetes or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not for people with heart failure, active bladder cancer or unexplained blood in the urine.
Interactions with other medicines
Insulin, sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride/gliclazide), other antidiabetics (additive effect), intestinal adsorbents and digestive enzyme preparations (may reduce effect), corticosteroids and thyroid hormones (may raise glucose), alcohol (may increase hypoglycaemia risk when used with other antidiabetics)
