Coenzyme Q10, alpha lipoic acid, astaxanthin, lycopene and vitamin E act as antioxidants and support mitochondrial energy production, helping reduce oxidative damage. L-arginine supports nitric oxide production and blood flow, while acetyl-L-carnitine supports fatty-acid transport into mitochondria. Vitamins/minerals (B12, folate, B6, zinc, selenium, chromium, vitamin D3) help correct deficiencies and support nerve function, immunity and metabolism; piperine may enhance nutrient absorption.

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, stomach pain and, with some minerals, damage over the longer term. It can cause vomiting and stomach pain, and with iron can be dangerous, especially in children. It can raise blood calcium dangerously, causing thirst, frequent urination, vomiting, confusion and kidney damage. It may cause loose motions and a small increase in bleeding tendency. It is unlikely to cause serious harm, because the body passes surplus B vitamins out in the urine. It may cause stomach upset and, with prolonged excess, puts avoidable load on the kidneys. It in very large doses taken over months can itself damage nerves, causing numbness and unsteadiness. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Anticoagulants/antiplatelets (warfarin, acenocoumarol, aspirin, clopidogrel) may increase bleeding risk; antidiabetic medicines/insulin (ALA, chromium) may enhance glucose-lowering; levothyroxine (minerals may interfere—separate by 4 hours); tetracycline/quinolone antibiotics (zinc can reduce absorption—separate by 2–4 hours); antihypertensives/nitrates/PDE5 inhibitors (L-arginine may add to BP-lowering effects).

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and out of reach of children.

Take it with food to reduce nausea. A varied diet remains the best source of these nutrients. Take it with food unless the pack says otherwise. Have deficiencies confirmed and rechecked by blood test rather than supplementing indefinitely. Take calcium with food, and split the day's total if you take a large amount. Sunlight helps your body make its own vitamin D. Have your level rechecked as your doctor advises rather than continuing high doses indefinitely. Taking it with a meal, or keeping the capsules in the fridge, reduces fishy burps. Continue your diet and exercise alongside it. A supplement corrects a deficiency; it is not a general energy tonic. If you are on it for nerve symptoms, keep your review appointment so the underlying cause is looked for. Mix it as directed on the pack; a thicker mix is not a stronger one. Use it alongside meals, not instead of them, unless your dietitian has said otherwise.
