Amlopin 2.5 Tablet contains Amlodipine (2.5mg). It belongs to the Calcium channel blocker (Dihydropyridine) class of medicines.

How Amlopin 2.5 Tablet works

Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It relaxes and widens blood vessels by blocking calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle, lowering blood pressure and reducing the heart’s workload. It also improves blood flow to the heart muscle to relieve angina.

How to take Amlopin 2.5 Tablet

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Amlopin 2.5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.\n

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Most side effects of Amlopin are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

You have been prescribed Amlopin 2.5 Tablet to improve your blood pressure and/or to reduce the number and severity of angina attacks. Lowering blood pressure reduces the chance of future heart attack and stroke. Take it at the same time every day to help you remember to take it. A sudden drop in your blood pressure may occur, especially when you first start taking Amlopin 2.5 Tablet. To lower the chance of feeling dizzy or passing out, rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. It can cause ankle or foot swelling. To reduce the swelling, raise your legs while you are sitting down. Talk to your doctor if it does not go away. It may cause dizziness. Do not drive or perform any activity that requires mental focus until you know how Amlopin 2.5 Tablet affects you. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding.
