How Bestor-5 mg works

Rosuvastatin is a statin that inhibits HMG‑CoA reductase, an enzyme needed for cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This lowers LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides and can increase HDL (good cholesterol), reducing plaque progression and cardiovascular risk.

How to take Bestor-5 mg

Tablet for oral use. Take exactly as prescribed, usually once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Continue cholesterol-lowering diet and exercise; do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Bestor 5 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses within 12 hours.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine is unlikely to cause immediate harm but may increase the risk of muscle and liver injury. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Bestor-5 mg

Most side effects of Bestor-5 mg are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

Warnings and precautions

Risk of muscle injury (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis)—seek medical help for unexplained muscle pain/weakness, especially with fever or dark urine. Monitor liver function; avoid in active liver disease. Use caution in kidney disease, hypothyroidism, elderly, heavy alcohol use, or history of muscle disorders. Not recommended in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Regular lipid monitoring advised.

Do not take Bestor-5 mg if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Not for people with active liver disease.

Interactions with other medicines

Cyclosporine, gemfibrozil and other fibrates, niacin, protease inhibitors (e.g., ritonavir-containing regimens), warfarin (may increase INR), ezetimibe, antacids containing aluminium/magnesium (separate dosing), colchicine

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.

Bestor 5 Tablet is generally safe and well-tolerated; however, it may cause diarrhea, gas, or an upset stomach in some people. If any of these happen to you, take it with food. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness, or muscle pain. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems, such as stomach pains, unusually dark urine, or yellowing of skin or eyes. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes before starting treatment with this medicine. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar level regularly, as Bestor 5 Tablet may cause an increase in your blood sugar level. Do not take Bestor 5 Tablet if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding.
