Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or after food. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.
An overdose of this medicine can cause vomiting, stomach pain and, with some minerals, damage over the longer term. It can cause deep unconsciousness and dangerously slow breathing, particularly with alcohol or an opioid. It may cause loose motions and a small increase in bleeding tendency. It can cause vomiting and stomach pain, and with iron can be dangerous, especially in children. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.
Most side effects of Macuchek Forte are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:

A supplement supports a normal diet; it does not prevent or treat infection. Zinc on an empty stomach commonly causes nausea — take it with food. Very high doses of vitamin A over a long period can be harmful, particularly in pregnancy. Do not take several products containing the same nutrient at once; the totals add up. These medicines cause dependence. They are intended for the shortest possible course — usually two to four weeks — and are not a long-term treatment for anxiety or sleeplessness. Never stop a regular course suddenly. Withdrawal can cause severe anxiety, tremor and fits. Your doctor will taper it slowly. Do not drive or operate machinery. Drowsiness and slowed reactions can continue into the next day. Never combine with alcohol or with opioid painkillers — together they can stop your breathing. Older people are far more likely to fall, become confused or have memory problems on these medicines. Several of these are Schedule H1 medicines and must be dispensed against a prescription and entered in the pharmacy register. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner — high doses of omega-3 can add to its effect. Check the source if you have a fish or shellfish allergy. A supplement is not a substitute for a balanced diet or for treating the cause of a symptom. Iron makes stools black and can cause constipation — this is expected, but tell your doctor if it troubles you. Keep iron-containing products well out of reach of children; an overdose in a small child is a medical emergency. Check the labels of everything you take so you do not double up on the same nutrient.
Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with severe breathing problems, sleep apnoea, or severe liver disease. Not for anyone with a history of dependence, except under specialist supervision. Not for anyone with a known allergy to fish, shellfish or any ingredient in the pack.
Zinc and other minerals reduce the absorption of some antibiotics — separate them by a few hours. Tell your doctor if you take a blood thinner, as high-dose vitamin E can add to its effect. Alcohol, opioids, antihistamines, muscle relaxants and other sedatives all deepen the sedation, sometimes fatally. May add to the effect of blood thinners and antiplatelet medicines. Iron, calcium, zinc and magnesium reduce the absorption of thyroid tablets and several antibiotics — separate them by a few hours. Tea and coffee taken with iron reduce how much is absorbed; vitamin C increases it.
Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
Take it with food to reduce nausea. A varied diet remains the best source of these nutrients. Use it for the shortest course, and ask your doctor about talking therapy and sleep routine, which work without dependence. Take it only at bedtime if it is for sleep, and allow a full night before driving. Never share these medicines, and keep them secured. Taking it with a meal, or keeping the capsules in the fridge, reduces fishy burps. Continue your diet and exercise alongside it. Take it with food unless the pack says otherwise. Have deficiencies confirmed and rechecked by blood test rather than supplementing indefinitely.
