Isosorbide Mononitrate (60mg)
Nitrofix 60 SR is used for treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain).
Medically reviewed by Dr. Balaji Krishnan, MBBS · Updated August 2026
Nitrofix 60 SR contains Isosorbide Mononitrate (60mg).
Treatment of Angina (heart-related chest pain)
Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet is a nitrate. It dilates peripheral arteries and veins. Dilation of the veins promotes peripheral pooling of blood and decreases venous return to the heart, thereby reducing the workload of the heart. As a result, the heart muscle does not need as much blood and oxygen supply.
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Nitrofix than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Nitrofix are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist about every medicine you take, including over-the-counter products, vitamins and herbal or ayurvedic preparations, before starting Nitrofix. Some combinations can change how Nitrofix works or raise the chance of side effects.
Store Nitrofix below 30°C in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the pack tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use it after the expiry date printed on the pack.
Take Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet exactly as prescribed and at the same time each day to maintain its effectiveness and reduce tolerance. Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet may cause dizziness or light-headedness, so avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you. Stand up slowly from sitting or lying positions, as this medicine may cause a drop in blood pressure and dizziness. Avoid alcohol while taking Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet, as it may increase dizziness or light-headedness. Headache is a common side effect when starting Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet, and it usually improves with continued use; inform your doctor if it becomes severe or persistent. Do not take medicines for erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil or tadalafil) while using Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet, as this combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet is usually used to prevent angina attacks and not for immediate relief; seek urgent medical attention if you develop sudden or severe chest pain. Follow the prescribed dosing schedule carefully, as tolerance to nitrates may develop if dosing instructions are not followed properly. Maintain heart-healthy lifestyle habits, such as a balanced diet, regular physical activity, weight control, stress reduction, and avoiding smoking. Consult your doctor if you experience severe weakness, fainting, confusion, or persistent symptoms while taking Nitrofix SR 60 Tablet.
