Telmichek-A Tablet contains Telmisartan (40mg) + Amlodipine (5mg). It belongs to the Angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) + Calcium channel blocker (DHP-CCB) class of medicines.

How Telmichek-A Tablet works

Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II effects. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates arteries by reducing calcium entry into vascular smooth muscle. Together they lower blood pressure more effectively than either alone.

How to take Telmichek-A Tablet

Oral tablet: take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, as prescribed. Swallow whole with water; do not stop abruptly without medical advice. Monitor blood pressure regularly.

An overdose of this medicine can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure and a dangerously slow or irregular heartbeat. Warnings and precautions

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines. Not for people with very low blood pressure or with severe narrowing of the aortic valve.

Interactions with other medicines

Potassium supplements/salt substitutes, potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone), ACE inhibitors or aliskiren (increased risk of kidney problems/hyperkalemia), NSAIDs (may reduce effect and worsen kidney function), lithium (toxicity risk), other antihypertensives/diuretics (additive hypotension), strong CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers affecting amlodipine (e.g., clarithromycin, azole antifungals, rifampicin), grapefruit juice (may increase amlodipine levels)

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture and light. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.

Rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down. Avoid consuming alcohol as it may enhance the blood pressure lowering effect of this medicine. It can cause ankle or foot swelling. Raise your legs while you are sitting down and talk to your doctor if it does not go away. Do not take Telmichek-A Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to conceive or breastfeeding.
