A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Volix M 0.3 mg Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.
All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.
Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.
Volix M 0.3 mg Tablet contains Voglibose (0.3mg). It belongs to the Alpha-glucosidase inhibitor + Biguanide class of medicines.
Type 2 diabetes mellitus (adjunct to diet and exercise) to improve post-meal and overall blood glucose control
Voglibose is an alpha-glucosidase inhibitor that delays digestion and absorption of carbohydrates in the intestine, reducing post-meal blood sugar spikes. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, helping the body use glucose more effectively.
Oral tablet. Usually taken with meals; voglibose-containing tablets are typically taken just before or with the first bite of food. Take as prescribed by the doctor; swallow with water and do not crush unless advised. If a dose is missed, take it with the next meal; do not double the dose.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of Volix 0.3mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Volix M than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Volix M are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

For prescription use. Not recommended in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Use with caution in kidney disease, liver disease, elderly patients, dehydration, and conditions predisposing to hypoxia; metformin can rarely cause lactic acidosis (seek urgent care for rapid breathing, severe weakness, abdominal pain, or drowsiness). Voglibose may cause gastrointestinal side effects and should be used cautiously in patients with intestinal disorders (e.g., obstruction, inflammatory bowel disease). Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c; monitor renal function periodically. Risk of hypoglycaemia increases if used with insulin or sulfonylureas; carry glucose source and treat lows as advised.
Alcohol, insulin, sulfonylureas (e.g., glimepiride), iodinated contrast media, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.g., topiramate, acetazolamide), cimetidine, diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, sympathomimetics
Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep in original blister pack and out of reach of children.
