Composition of Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet contains Bisoprolol + Telmisartan. It belongs to the Beta blocker and Angiotensin receptor blocker / ACE inhibitor class of medicines.

Uses of Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

  • High blood pressure
  • Angina
  • Heart failure
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Diabetic kidney disease

Benefits of Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

In High blood pressure
Bisoson T slows the heart a little and lets it beat with less force, bringing blood pressure down and reducing the long-term risk of stroke and heart attack.
In Angina
Bisoson T reduces how hard the heart has to work, so it needs less oxygen and you get fewer episodes of chest pain on exertion.
In Heart failure
Bisoson T protects a weakened heart from the stress hormones that would otherwise strain it further, improving how well it pumps over time and lowering the risk of hospital admission.
In Irregular heartbeat
Bisoson T steadies the heart's rhythm and keeps the rate from racing, which eases palpitations and the dizziness or breathlessness that come with them.
In Diabetic kidney disease
Bisoson T reduces the pressure inside the kidneys' filters and cuts the protein leaking into the urine, slowing the kidney damage that diabetes causes.

How Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet works

This medicine combines 2 active ingredients: Bisoprolol and Telmisartan. Bisoprolol slows the heart and reduces the force of each beat by blocking the effect of adrenaline, so the heart works less hard and uses less oxygen. Telmisartan relaxes and widens your blood vessels by blocking a hormone that narrows them, so your heart does not have to push as hard and your blood pressure falls.

How to take Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it unless your doctor has told you to. Take it with or without food, at the same time each day. Taking it at about the same time each day helps you remember. Follow the dose and the duration written on your prescription.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

Take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is almost due, skip the one you missed — never take two doses together to catch up.

If you take too much

An overdose of this medicine can cause a dangerously slow heartbeat, a severe fall in blood pressure, wheezing and fits. It can cause a severe fall in blood pressure, with dizziness, fainting and a fast or slow pulse. Do not wait for symptoms to appear — go to the nearest emergency department and take the pack or strip with you.

Side effects of Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

Most side effects of Bisoson T are mild and settle as the body gets used to the medicine. The ones reported most often are:

  • Tiredness
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Slow pulse
  • Dizziness
  • Disturbed sleep
  • Breathlessness
  • Dizziness on standing up
  • Headache
  • Raised potassium
  • Dry cough

Stop the medicine and get help at once for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Warnings and precautions

Never stop this medicine suddenly. Stopping abruptly can cause a sharp rise in blood pressure, worsening chest pain or a heart attack — your doctor will reduce it gradually. Tell your doctor if you have asthma or long-standing lung disease; this group can tighten the airways. If you have diabetes, be aware that this medicine can mask the early warning signs of low blood sugar, apart from sweating. Report a resting pulse that is persistently very slow, or fainting. Stand up slowly for the first few days — dizziness on rising is common when you start or your dose goes up. Stop and seek urgent care if your lips, tongue, face or throat swell, or you have difficulty breathing. A persistent dry, tickly cough can be caused by the ACE inhibitor group; tell your doctor rather than stopping on your own, as an alternative exists. Your doctor will check your kidney function and potassium after starting and after any dose change. Do not use salt substitutes containing potassium without asking your doctor.

Do not take Bisoson T if

Not for anyone with a known allergy to this medicine or to any ingredient in the pack. Not for people with a very slow heart rate, certain heart block disorders, or uncontrolled heart failure. Generally avoided in severe asthma. Must not be used in pregnancy — it can seriously harm the developing baby. Not for people with narrowing of both kidney arteries, or a history of swelling of the face and throat caused by this group of medicines.

Interactions with other medicines

Combining with verapamil or diltiazem can slow the heart dangerously. Tell your doctor about diabetes medicines and about any asthma inhaler. Anti-inflammatory painkillers reduce the effect and can harm the kidneys when combined. Potassium supplements, potassium-sparing water tablets and salt substitutes can push potassium too high. Lithium levels rise when taken with these medicines.

How to store Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

Store below 30°C in the original pack, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.

Quick tips for Bisoson T 2.5 Tablet

  • Learn to check your own pulse, and report a persistently slow one.
  • Blood pressure medicines work only while you take them.
  • Do not stop because you feel well.
  • Tell your doctor at once if you become pregnant or are planning a pregnancy.
  • Keep a home blood-pressure record if your doctor has asked for one.

People taking Bisoson T are often asked to check these from time to time. Your doctor decides which and how often.
