Same salt, different brand — what does that mean?

A substitute contains the same active ingredient (salt), in the same strength, as Udiwok 300 Tablet. The medicine inside is the same — the brand name, manufacturer and price are what differ.

All medicines sold in India, branded or generic, must meet the quality standards set by the national drug regulator (CDSCO). A lower price does not mean lower quality.

Please confirm with your doctor or pharmacist before switching brands — they will check that the strength and form match your prescription.

Composition of Udiwok 300 Tablet

Udiwok 300 Tablet contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid (300mg). It belongs to the Bile acid (Ursodeoxycholic acid) class of medicines.

Uses of Udiwok 300 Tablet

  • Dissolution of cholesterol gallstones (in selected patients)
  • treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC)/primary biliary cirrhosis
  • cholestatic liver diseases where UDCA is indicated (as prescribed)

Key benefits

  • Helps dissolve cholesterol gallstones
  • Improves bile flow in cholestasis
  • Reduces liver enzyme levels in PBC
  • Protects liver cells from toxic bile acids
  • May reduce gallstone recurrence risk when appropriate

How Udiwok 300 Tablet works

Ursodeoxycholic acid is a hydrophilic bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation in bile by decreasing hepatic cholesterol secretion and absorption. It improves bile flow and protects liver cells from toxic bile acids, helping in cholestatic liver conditions and gradual dissolution of cholesterol gallstones.

How to take Udiwok 300 Tablet

Take by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually with food; swallow whole with water. Dose and duration depend on indication (e.g., gallstones or PBC); take at the same time daily and do not stop without medical advice.

Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.

Missed dose and overdose

If you miss a dose

If you miss a dose of Udiwok 300 Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.

If you take too much

Taking more Udiwok than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.

Expert advice for Udiwok 300 Tablet

Take Udiwok 300 Tablet after a meal with a glass of milk or water to help improve its absorption and reduce stomach upset. Take Udiwok 300 Tablet regularly at the same time each day, as it works gradually and may take time to show beneficial results. Follow a healthy diet and exercise regularly, and avoid alcohol while taking Udiwok 300 Tablet. Avoid heavy or oily meals, as high-fat foods may worsen gallbladder or liver-related symptoms. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Drink plenty of fluids, including oral rehydration solution (ORS), and inform your doctor if it persists or if you notice blood in your stools. Your doctor may monitor liver function tests and bilirubin levels regularly, especially during the first few months of the treatment. Seek medical advice promptly if you develop worsening jaundice, severe itching, dark urine, pale stools, persistent abdominal pain, or fever. Do not stop taking Udiwok 300 Tablet without consulting your doctor, as liver conditions often require monitored and continuous therapy. Inform your doctor about all other medicines, herbal products, or supplements you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
