ATOcor 10 Tablet is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) that is required in the body to make cholesterol. It thus lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides, raising the level of "good" cholesterol (HDL).
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. ATOcor 10 Tablet may be taken with or without food.
Take it exactly as your doctor prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop early on your own.
If you miss a dose of ATOcor 10 Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
Taking more Atocor-10 than prescribed can be harmful. If you suspect an overdose, contact a doctor or go to the nearest emergency department at once, and carry the pack or strip with you. In India the emergency number is 112.
Most side effects of Atocor-10 are mild and settle as the body adjusts. Reported side effects include:
Stop the medicine and seek help immediately for a rash, swelling of the face or lips, wheezing or difficulty breathing. Tell your doctor about any side effect that persists or worries you.

Use with caution in patients with liver disease, diabetes, or a history of muscle disorders. Regular liver function tests are recommended.
May interact with other cholesterol-lowering medications, certain antibiotics, antifungals, and medications that affect liver enzymes.
Store at room temperature (20-25°C), away from light and moisture.
ATOcor 10 Tablet may cause diarrhea, gas, or an upset stomach. If any of these happen to you, please consult with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, muscle weakness, or muscle pain. Your doctor may check your liver function before starting the treatment and regularly thereafter. Inform your doctor if you notice signs of liver problems, such as stomach pains, unusually dark urine, or yellowing of skin or eyes. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or diabetes before starting treatment with this medicine. If you are diabetic, monitor your blood sugar level regularly, as ATOcor 10 Tablet may cause an increase in your blood sugar level. Do not take ATOcor 10 Tablet if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding. ATOcor 10 Tablet treats high cholesterol by lowering "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides (fats). It should be taken in addition to regular exercise and a low-fat diet.
